13. Side French Braid

Sometimes keeping hair out of your face is the main goal. A single French braid that starts near the temple and goes down the side of the head is great for this. It keeps all the front layers neatly tucked away. Make sure to pull sections tightly as you braid to keep it from loosening during movement.
12. High Messy Bun

Don’t let the name fool you; a “messy” bun can still be very secure! The key is the placement and the pinning. Pull hair into a high ponytail. Tease the ponytail slightly for volume, then loosely twist it into a bun shape. Secure it generously with bobby pins, crisscrossing them for extra grip. A texturizing spray can help the bun hold its shape.
11. Braided Headband

This style uses your own hair to create a secure headband. Take a section of hair from behind one ear and braid it. Bring the braid across the top of your head like a headband and secure it behind the other ear with bobby pins. This is perfect for keeping bangs and shorter layers out of the way.
10. Low Braided Buns

Similar to the double French braid buns, but starting lower. Divide hair into two sections. Create a braid on each side, starting from just below the ears. Twist each braid into a low bun at the nape of the neck. This is a very stable option. Applying a little gel before braiding helps keep the sections sleek and in place.
9. Bubble Ponytail

This fun style isn’t just cute; it’s surprisingly secure. Start with a high ponytail. Place elastics a few inches apart down the length of the ponytail, creating “bubbles” of hair between each elastic. Gently pull on the sides of each bubble to make them fuller. Using clear elastics makes the style look even more polished.
8. Crown Braid

A crown braid wraps around the entire head, making it incredibly secure. Start a French or Dutch braid near one ear and continue braiding around the hairline, adding sections as you go. When you reach the starting point, tuck the end of the braid and pin it securely. This style keeps every single strand of hair contained.
7. High Braided Ponytail

Combine the height of a ponytail with the security of a braid. Pull hair into a high ponytail. Braid the ponytail all the way down and secure the end with an elastic. This prevents the ponytail from whipping around during flips and turns. Make sure the initial ponytail is tight and uses a strong elastic.
