Moisture: An Issue More Complex Than Frizz
Every curly head of hair is porous in nature. What this means is, it soaks moisture from its surroundings. During peak humid conditions, the curls take in excessive water, causing the hair strands to swell. Thus, frizz, puffiness and loss of definition.
Hydration plays two significant roles: how it affects curls and how hair reacts to moisture. Certain curls appear to be more defined with hydration; and some lose shape entirely. For me, humid weather stretched my tight curls, and they would lose definition and bounce.
However, Temporary Solutions Don’t Work for Everyone
Every product for anti-humidity is different. Clogs the moisturize: some treat curls with heavy silicones. Others achieve anti-humidity but do not work when the environment is humid. While dealing with curls, it’s imperative to get light but effective products. So that they don’t weigh down the curls.
